Hypnosis and NeuroLinguistic Programming
At the heart, both hypnosis and neurolinguistic programming (NLP) is a method to help patients get what they want. Both therapies help clients turn their attention inward to find resources that will help them change or regain control over various aspects of their lives. However, while the goals may be the same, the techniques are different.
HYPNOSIS
Hypnosis is set of tools and techniques that help the patient enter an altered state of consciousness. In this trance-like state, the conscious mind shuts off and the unconscious mind is more available for direct communication and can more readily respond to change. During hypnosis, the therapist asks patients to change their thinking about various experiences in order to change behavior.
